Well we have spent the last couple of weeks interviewing architects and home designers in preperation for our new home design. After some careful consideration we have chosen to proceed to the next stage, the design process, with Aspect Z.
We found the principal and owner easy to talk with and he seemed to have similar thoughts on the design we are looking for. The scheduled fees for an architect designed home was very reasonable and we can have the same company build the home if we elect too after the tender period.
So for now we will see how this goes over the next month or so.
Okay well we have secured our block of land in Belmont. This is a waterfront battle axe block with an old cottage in a very bad state of disrepair.
Settlement is mid February on the site and we started the planning for a new home for our family.
Buying this block we are aware of a lot of issues that come with it, the steep slope, the southern aspect, the sea rise issues of Lake Macquarie waterfronts and subsequent difficulties we will have getting a design through the local council.
Our first steps have been to obtain a Contour Survey of the land through Pearson and Associates and a Geotechnical report through CSG Engineers. We have obtained these to assist us with making our decision to commit to the purchase seeking to find out if there are any major issues with the land itself.
All came back okay with the reports and expected findings.
